Hardwood Flooring
Advantages
- There are many species, colors, and stains to choose from
- Hardwoods are also made in many different widths
- Adds value to your home
Disadvantages
- Wide boards can be susceptible to moisture, causing excessive expansion and contraction
- Hardwoods can scratch and dent
- Requires periodic refinishing
Tile Flooring
Advantages
- Available in many styles, shapes, colors and sizes
- Extremely durable and easily cleaned
- Long lasting and adds value to your home
Disadvantages
- Tile is heavy which requires a solid subsurface
- Is the most expensive to install of all flooring
- Tile is hard and cold on bare feet
Carpet Flooring
Advantages
- Soft, quiet, warm and available in many colors and styles
- Usually costs less than hard surface floors
- An increasing number of Carpets are made from recyclables and or can be recycled
Disadvantages
- Carpets can have a shorter life span than most hard surface floors
- Sometimes more difficult to clean than hard surface floors
Laminate (Faux) Flooring
Advantages
- Available in a wide variety of colors and designs
- Extremely durable and less susceptible to moisture than Hardwood
- Usually less expensive than Hardwood or Tile
- Can float over most existing floors
Disadvantages
- Laminate is a faux floor and does not increase the home’s value
